1. Introduction and Purpose 

To provide consistent guidelines for credential study financial support within Loyalist College. 

2. Application 

This policy applies to all full-time permanent employees of Loyalist College. 

3. Policy Statement 

Loyalist College supports the commitment of staff to increase their formal educational credentials related to their current or future employment with the College. This commitment is made in support of the College’s mandate to optimize employee skills and effectiveness, and also in support of developing and enhancing partnerships with universities, professional associates and accreditation bodies. 

This support is intended to improve access to credentials related to the mutual needs of the College and its employees. In recognition of the importance of this activity, the College will commit annually to the General Credential Support Fund and Loan programs. The General Credential Support Fund provides support to credential studies as outlined in the procedure. The Loan program is designed to support studies at the Master’s and Doctoral level. 

All limits to these programs are described in the attached procedure and are subject to annual Business Plan approval and may be increased or decreased accordingly.
