“I felt it was time for a career change, so I met with Community Employment Services in Bancroft to find out how to make it happen. They told me that I qualified for Second Career funding and that I could complete the Developmental Services Worker program online in the eLab at the Bancroft campus. Their support has been phenomenal – answering my many questions, guiding me through the application and registration process, and now as I work towards my diploma. I feel very fortunate to have all these exceptional resources and support in one location in our small community.”
Susan Lake, Developmental Services Worker student

BANCROFT-SITB-LeatherWorkJust a few examples:

  • Our Wilderness Survival courses, taught mostly in the out-of-doors, immerse the active learner in many realistic and challenging situations; as well, students will gain an insight into the psychological makeup of the survivor by analysing statistical data and discussing interview transcripts with lost victims
  • Moccasin Workshops teach participants the art of making these versatile, durable and beautiful samples of footwear
  • Our Edible Plants course enables you to explore natures bounty.

All students are encouraged to learn, develop and progress at their own pace. In our classes, experienced and novice participants alike will benefit from the challenging, hands-on teaching approach. With a low instructor-to-client ratio, participants benefit from individualized attention.
