Tradewise Event Introduces Young Women to Careers in Skilled Trades and Technology

Loyalist College is pleased to host TradeWise, an event designed to introduce more than 70 young women in grades 10 and 11 to the exciting career options available to them within the field of skilled trades and technology. The Hastings & Prince Edward District and Algonquin & Lakeshore Catholic District School Boards are encouraging seven or eight participants to attend from each high school. A number of Loyalist’s female professors will lead the workshops.

What:  TradeWise – Introduction to Skilled Trades and Technology Careers

Students choose two hands-on activities hosted by Loyalist College programs, including Culinary, Welding, Automotive, Electrical, Biosciences, Manufacturing, Surveying, Construction Renovation and Esthetics. 

When:  Thursday, October 17th 

8:45 – 9 a.m. – Registration and Welcome 

9 – 10:50 a.m. – First Project

11 – 11:30 a.m.– Lunch

11:35 a.m. – 1:25 p.m. – Second Project

1:25 – 1:45 p.m. – Assemble in the Link Lounge and Recap  

Where:  Kente Building, Loyalist College, 376 Wallbridge-Loyalist Road 

Additional:   The TradeWise program is supported by the East Central Ontario Training Board (ECOTB), Hastings & Prince Edward District School Board, Algonquin & Lakeshore Catholic District School Board and Loyalist College.
