Applicants say one of the top reasons they choose Loyalist is the excellence of its teaching
Belleville, Ontario, September 4, 2012 – Loyalist College continues to accept students for the fall semester of its 60+ full-time programs, with classes starting Wednesday, September 5th. Already, more than 580 students have moved into campus residences, upgraded with new amenities this summer. To welcome students and help them to acclimatize, Program Orientation sessions and a student barbeque with music were held today.
“We look forward to welcoming new and returning students this week and to working with them throughout the year to support their success and learning,” said Loyalist College President Maureen Piercy. “As we kick off another great year, we continue to focus on implementing and achieving significant progress in our Strategic Plan. For example, our commitment to Academic Excellence is evident in the excellence of our teaching, which our applicants identify as one of the top reasons they chose Loyalist.”
There is an ongoing emphasis on the provincial program quality assurance process, which Loyalist’s new Research Services Office is helping to support by providing research, data and analysis on issues including accountability and performance measures. By identifying high-value programming for the College and its community, Loyalist is able to align opportunities with potential resources. In May 2012, Loyalist was granted membership into the Colleges Ontario Network for Industry Innovation (CONII), within the Network for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (NIE).
New academic programs rolling out this year at Loyalist include:
- Advertising & Marketing Communications Two-Year Ontario College Diploma
- Sports & Entertainment Sales & Marketing One-Year Ontario College Post-Graduate Certificate
- Graphic Design Three-Year Ontario College Advanced Diploma
A number of renovations have recently been made to the Pioneer and Kente Buildings, as well as Student Government-led upgrades to the Health Centre and Student Centre. New equipment and smart classroom capabilities have also been added, following Loyalist IT Services’ annual technology review.
