Ontario Colleges – The Leading-Edge Choice

November 10, 2011

A recently launched multi-media ad campaign promotes an Ontario college education as the best path to many of the cutting-edge careers in the new knowledge economy.

For Loyalist College in Belleville, Ontario, the campaign supports the College’s ongoing commitment to current and prospective students—offering courses and programs that meet the needs of today and tomorrow.

“Today, higher education is being looked at in a whole new way,” commented Loyalist President Maureen Piercy. “There are many new opportunities and challenges being presented by jobs that did not exist just a few years ago. Loyalist faculty and staff are constantly working to ensure we are able to provide our students with the programs and the state-of-the-art equipment that will ensure our students are able to meet the challenges of an ever-changing workplace.”

The theme of the ad campaign is “Higher Education for the New World.” The ads show students and parents reassessing the options available to students these days, supported by computer-animated graphics that promote careers in areas such as game development, biotechnology, and forensics.

“Our Biosciences program students have access to state-of-the-art technology which, at many institutions, is available only to graduate-level researchers. Loyalist’s facilities include a Supercritical CO2 Extraction Lab—the first of its kind in Ontario,” commented Bill Walsh, Vice-President Enrolment Management and Student Services. “Loyalist offers the career-focused, relevant programs that are changing people’s attitudes about post-secondary education.”

“Attitudes about college education are changing,” he said. “We see growing numbers of students pursuing a college education, as well as an increase in numbers of university graduates pursuing college after university.”

The campaign is part of a long-term effort by Ontario’s 24 colleges to get parents and students exploring the full range of post-secondary programs available in the province and choosing the education that is best for each student.
