Ontario College Support Staff Ratify Agreement
87% vote in favour of new four-year deal
TORONTO, Oct. 1, 2014 – In a province-wide vote, support staff at Ontario’s 24 colleges today ratified the agreement negotiated between the Colleges’ Bargaining Team and the Ontario Public Service Employees Union (OPSEU).
Approximately 87% of votes were cast in favour of the agreement, according to official results confirmed today by the Ontario Labour Relations Board.
The new four-year agreement is in effect from September 1, 2014 until August 31, 2018.
“We are very pleased that Support Staff endorse this new agreement. It provides us with a four-year agreement that will provide predictability and stability for employees, Colleges, and, most importantly, our students,” said Gerry Barker, Chair of the Colleges’ Bargaining Team, and Vice-President, Human Resources at Algonquin College.
