New Members Join the Loyalist College Board of Governors

Two new members have joined the Loyalist College Board of Governors and were welcomed to their first official meeting on September 13th by Board Chair, Bob Cottrell.

Barb Brant is the newly elected Chair of the Chief Earl R. Hill/Douglas E. Maracle Board.  She is also a coordinator of the Community Native Dance Program, a member of The Woodland Cultural Centre Board of Governors, and co-chair of the Tyendinaga Food Bank.  Barb is an honours graduate from Humber College and a graduate of Laurentian University.  She has held the position of educational assistant at Quinte Mohawk School since 1985, and is a certified coach for volleyball, track and field, and baseball. 

Stephen Ashby was elected as the Student Representative and is in his second year of the Developmental Services Worker Program at Loyalist.  He is a mature student, with two children, and has volunteered with agencies throughout the community.  He has several years of employment experience, including Crane Plumbing Canada where he was responsible for training new employees and conducting safety training for the plant. 

The Board of Governors includes 12 community members who are appointed by the provincial College Compensation and Appointments Council, the College President, and four elected members representing the students, faculty, support staff and administration of the College.
