LTDC Receives 2009 Business Achievement Award

October 29, 2009

The Loyalist Training and Development Centre was named this year’s winner of a Quinte Business Achievement Award at the annual gala held on October 23rd. The award, for the “Not-for-Profit – Large Enterprise” category, was accepted by Chuck O’Malley and College President Maureen Piercy, on behalf of the College.

The Contract Training team was recognized for the quality work it has done in developing area businesses and supporting economic development in the region.

“This year’s winner of the large enterprise not-for-profit organization award is one of the few not-for-profit organizations that must compete in a free market system.   This team has developed a product that has become more relevant and more needed over time and they have trained themselves to respond faster and better than their competition,” commented Emcee Peter McConnell.

“A vital partner in the economic success of the region, this organization has leveraged partnerships and provincial and federal funding to bring value to local employers, including the manufacturing sector.  They have helped bring more than $6 million in training funding to local manufacturers alone.”

“We are very proud of the work of the Contract Training staff, and I want to congratulate all members of the team for this recognition,” said President Maureen Piercy. “This award is well deserved, and emphasizes the importance of the College in supporting the economic development and prosperity of our communities.”
