Loyalist College Congratulates 2014 Nursing Scholarship Recipient

October 17, 2014

Loyalist College is pleased to congratulate Vanessa Cornish, recipient of the 2014 Brock University-Loyalist College Collaborative Baccalaureate Nursing Scholarship. The $5,000 scholarship is awarded annually to a student in the Brock-Loyalist Nursing program who has demonstrated a high level of achievement in their first two years at Loyalist. Vanessa, who is from Stirling-Rawdon, Ontario, achieved an overall average of 92.96 percent, and continues her studies at Brock University this fall.

“I was very impressed with your essay submission, and the way you talk about the principles of primary health care and how they affect you both in your personal practice and your professional practice,” President and CEO Maureen Piercy told Vanessa during the award presentation. “I know that you will represent us and yourself very well and will be very successful in your transition to Brock. We look forward to hearing about your success in future years as you move forward. Congratulations, and well done!”

“I am exceptionally honoured to have received the Loyalist College Nursing Scholarship,” said Vanessa. “This honour is a recognition of the continuous and evolving studying and critical thinking skills I acquired during my two years at the College, but also recognizes the dedicated and amazing teaching and engagement the Nursing faculty provides to their students. The scholarship further enables me to confidently transition to Brock University knowing that I will be more financially secure, as well as confirming that I am on the path to embodying the collaborative program’s Nursing values.”
