Loyalist College to Host its Second Annual Empty Bowls Event for the Quinte Regional Food Sharing Shelter

Building on the success of the Empty Bowls event last March, Loyalist College is preparing to host its second fundraiser for the Quinte Regional Food Sharing Shelter. All of the proceeds will go to this collective of eight area food banks, which provide food hampers and community resources information to more than 3,400 families a month in the Quinte Region.

Guests at the event can help to make a difference by purchasing a handcrafted bowl, donated by local potters and Loyalist College Continuing Education Pottery students. They will also receive a bowl of gourmet soup, prepared by Chef John Schneeberger, Loyalist College Culinary students, and Dinkels Restaurant in Belleville.

“Community support was overwhelming last year, with more than $3,000 raised within the first few hours of the fundraiser,” said Susanne Quinlan, operations director for the Gleaners Food Bank. “This year, we anticipate even more people coming together to help end hunger and improve the quality of life for families in our community.”
