LOYALIST COLLEGE SIGNS ARTICULATION AGREEMENT WITH TRENT UNIVERSITY

April 07, 2016

Belleville, Ontario, April 7, 2016 — Loyalist College is pleased to announce that it has signed an articulation agreement with Trent University that will give eligible Social Service Worker diploma graduates the opportunity to enter Trent’s four-year Bachelor of Social Work (B.S.W.) program with advanced standing. With this pathway, students will be able to earn a diploma and degree in five years.

“We are very pleased to be able to add this excellent opportunity to our partnerships with Trent University. This articulation agreement will provide a seamless pathway to an excellent degree program for our Social Service Worker graduates,” said Loyalist College President and CEO Maureen Piercy. “Now, more than ever, employers value graduates prepared with both a diploma and a degree.”

The pathway agreement comes into effect in September 2016. Eligible students will be granted 6.0 credits (approximately one year of study) when arriving at Trent University. Students have the option of studying at Trent’s Peterborough campus or at the Durham campus in the Greater Toronto Area.

“We’re pleased to collaborate with Loyalist College on this new articulation agreement as it accelerates pathways into Trent’s B.S.W. program,” said Dr. Susan Hillock, Director of Trent University’s Social Work program. “The agreement recognizes the excellence, knowledge and experience that these students will bring to Trent’s B.S.W. program, which continues to enrich students’ knowledge and critical thinking as well as assists them in integrating their practical experience with advanced theory.”
