Loyalist College Presents $23,568 to the United Way Of Quinte

November 29, 2012

Belleville, Ontario, November 29, 2012 – Loyalist College is pleased to announce that this year’s campaign for the United Way of Quinte has raised $23,568. Loyalist College President Maureen Piercy and members of the Loyalist Community presented a cheque to David Allen, Campaign Chair for the United Way of Quinte today.

“Thank you so much for taking the time to raise these funds,” said David. “They go a long way toward helping us to achieve our fundraising goal this year. The College is so important to our region. When the students and staff come together and demonstrate this kind of support, it makes a difference in the lives of the children and families who live in our area.”

The campaign was launched in October with the Annual Pancake Breakfast supported by the Rotary Club of Quinte Sunrise, Bib’s Meats, Aramark, Club 213, Findlay Foods, and Reid’s Dairy.  Other events included the Third Annual Truckload sale organized by post-graduate Public Relations students, and the Annual 8 km Police Run by Police Foundations students. Loyalist’s Student Government made a generous contribution, and donations were collected from faculty, support and administrative staff through payroll deductions and one-time contributions.

“A heartfelt thank you to all the students, faculty, staff and community members who helped,” said President Piercy. “Workplace campaigns, like ours, are a significant source of support for the United Way of Quinte, which helps so many people in our community. We are very pleased to be able to contribute to the wonderful services they provide.”
