Loyalist College Entrance Scholarship Recipients Recognized

September 24, 2012

On Wednesday, September 19th, Loyalist College Entrance Scholarship recipients were recognized during a presentation in Club 213. This year, 43 students received the $2,000 Scholarship, which is applied to their tuition for the year.

“Congratulations to each of you,” said President Maureen Piercy as she welcomed the students. “We are so delighted that you chose Loyalist College for your post-secondary education. Academic excellence is a key passion and commitment here at the College, and we’re delighted to have you here to celebrate your personal academic achievements.”

The awards are available to first-year Loyalist students from across Ontario who maintain an average of 85% or higher during both grades 11 and 12, and who accept their offer of admission before May 1st.

“Receiving this scholarship meant the difference between going to college and going straight into the workforce,” said Darren Morgan, an East Northumberland Secondary School graduate from Brighton who is now taking the Pre-Health Science program. “I worked really hard to get a scholarship to pursue post-secondary education. I worked more than 30 hours a week during my grade 12 year, but I maintained an average in the 90s and my hard work paid off.”
