Loyalist College Board of Governors Welcomes New Members

Belleville, Ontario, September 13, 2013 – At the September 12th meeting of the Loyalist College Board of Governors, Chair Tamara Kleinschmidt introduced new Governors Elizabeth Kryschuk, Sandra Maracle and Mary Lynn Rutledge.

Elizabeth Kryschuk has been elected as the Student Representative to the Board. For the upcoming year, she will serve as a member of the Academic, Student Affairs and Advocacy Committee and as a member of College Council. A 2013 graduate of the Loyalist Business Administration program, Ms. Kryschuk is now pursuing an advanced diploma in Human Resources and Materials Management at the College. For the 2013-2014 year, Ms. Kryschuk is also the elected President of Enactus Loyalist College. Last year, she was a member of the Enactus team, through which she managed the HERCS (Helping Entrepreneurs Reach Complete Success) program, focused on educating and guiding members of the military and military families toward entrepreneurial endeavours. She was also a Loyalist Student Government leader for the Applied Sciences and Business programs. Currently, she is a member of the Loyalist Sustainability Committee and works in the Loyalist Career Centre as a Career Peer Advisor, assisting students and alumni with résumés, cover letters and job searches. In addition to her academic responsibilities, Ms. Kryschuk works part-time at Rogers Plus as a Supervisor and a Customer Service Representative. She is a graduate of Twin Lakes Secondary School in Orillia.

Sandra Maracle will serve as a member of the Academic, Student Affairs and Advocacy Committee for 2013-2014. Ms. Maracle has 20 years of experience in education, having served as Post-Secondary Education Assistant and Post-Secondary Education Program Manager with the Mohawks of the Bay of Quinte. Throughout her career, she has worked directly with students, providing career and personal counselling, to help them succeed in their chosen field of study. She has assisted in the development and delivery of specialized Native programming, and has managed the Post-Secondary Education Program budget, liaising with funding and support services agencies and various colleges and universities. Ms. Maracle represents the Mohawks of the Bay of Quinte on educational advisory committees. She is a graduate of the Social Services Worker program at Loyalist College.

Mary Lynn Rutledge will serve as a member of the Finance, Corporate Services and Governance Committee for the upcoming year. Ms. Rutledge is General Manager of Community Futures Development Corporation of North and Central Hastings and South Algonquin. During the past nine years with Community Futures, she has held progressively senior management roles, working directly with provincial and federal government representatives. In her current role, Ms. Rutledge researches, analyzes, identifies and implements client program and service enhancements. Her responsibilities include business plan development, budget and lending portfolio management and Human Resources and office management. She also holds the position of Secretary on the Eastern Ontario Community Futures Development Corporation Network and volunteers for Junior Achievement in North Hastings area classrooms. Prior to joining Community Futures, she was a Personal Banking Officer with Scotiabank for 15 years. Ms. Rutledge is a graduate of George Brown College’s Culinary Management program. 

At the meeting, Chair Tamara Kleinschmidt also recognized the services and commitment of retiring Governors Barb Brant, Matt Ireland, David Pickett and Past Chair Margaret Werkhoven. The Board of Governors includes 12 community members, the College President, and four elected members representing the students, faculty, support staff and administration of the College.
