Loyalist College Board of Governors Welcomes New Member David Hatch

Belleville, Ontario, January 9, 2014 – At the January 9th meeting of the Loyalist College Board of Governors, Chair Tamara Kleinschmidt introduced new Governor David Hatch of Wellington.

Mr. Hatch is Executive Producer at WhistleStop Productions Inc., a full-service broadcast television production company located in Prince Edward County. He has more than 30 years of experience in the Canadian broadcasting industry. To date, WhistleStop Productions has produced over 600 hours of original television content for distribution to dozens of broadcasting networks around the world.

“As our knowledge based economy continues to put unprecedented demands on the College system in Ontario, Loyalist College faces a whole new set of opportunities,” said Mr. Hatch.  “The College has just come through five years of tremendous progress, and I’m thrilled to be joining the Loyalist College Board of Governors during this exciting time.”

Mr. Hatch started his career in 1981 in Toronto as an audio engineer for the multilingual station CFMT Channel 47, and in 1984 was a key member of the team which launched TSN – The Sports Network.  He also worked as a producer/writer and daily news reporter with Global Television Network.  In 1989, he founded WhistleStop Productions. 

In addition to Mr. Hatch’s extensive media business background, he has taught in Broadcasting programs at Loyalist College and Algonquin College, and is a long-standing member of Loyalist’s Broadcast Engineering Technology Program Advisory Committee. He is also a member of the Rotary Club of Picton, and organized the Club’s Camp Trillium Ride to Remember fundraiser for five consecutive years.  

Mr. Hatch is a graduate of the Radio and Television Arts program at Seneca College.
