LOYALIST COLLEGE BANCROFT CAMPUS 17th GRADUATION CEREMONY CELEBRATES SUCCESS OF 51 STUDENTS

Bancroft, Ontario, October 6, 2016 – Today Loyalist College proudly presented 62 diplomas and certificates to 51 graduates at the 17th Annual Bancroft Campus Graduation Ceremony.

“This is an important day and we are all delighted to share in this celebration,” said Chair of the Loyalist College Board of Governors June Hagerman. “Convocation is an occasion when the entire College community, family, friends and supports come together to honour you, our graduates.”

During the ceremony, graduates received post-secondary credentials in the following programs:

  • Ontario College Diplomas in Developmental Services Worker, Early Childhood Education, Office Administration and Office Administration – Medical.
  • Ontario College Certificates in Food Service Worker, Office Administration, and Personal Support Worker.
  • Loyalist College Board of Governors Certificates in Correctional Services Worker, Geriatric Studies, Health Records Clerk, Hospital Ward Clerk, Office Assistant, Palliative Care and Small Business Bookkeeping.

“Many of those graduating this afternoon have held full- or part-time jobs while maintaining a household during their studies,” said Dianne Spencer, Loyalist College Interim President. “Balancing these schedules and responsibilities is a huge challenge, and I know their families are as proud of these graduates as we are. The support of families and friends reflects the importance and value this community places on education, on lifelong learning, and career development. Congratulations!”

The Valedictorian address was delivered by Ms. Jeanine Harrison, Personal Support Worker Program – Marmora, who is from Tweed, with introduction by Ms. June MacDonald-Jenkins, Dean of the School of Health, Human and Justice Studies.

The Herbert L. Esford Award was presented to graduate Brandon Gauthier, Personal Support Worker program – Napanee.

The Vance Motors Business Award was presented to Veronica Blanchette, Office Administration Diploma program. The Kawartha Credit Union Bursaries were presented to seven Personal Support Worker graduates, including Shirley Arsenault, Brandon Gauthier, Jeanine Harrison, Brook-Lynn McIlroy, Sierra Pyke, Kelly Schirmers and Lori Zwetsloot.

Loyalist College Bancroft Campus is a vibrant and busy satellite campus of Loyalist College in Belleville. The College prepares students for a rewarding career by combining rigorous academic standards with hands-on training from industry experts. Since 1967, the Bancroft Campus has been a leader in developing and implementing diploma and certificate programs to Bancroft and the surrounding areas. It has extended its services in Ontario through outreach programs in locations such as: Amherstview, Barry’s Bay, Campbellford, Christian Island, Curve Lake, Napanee, Northbrook, Picton, Rama, Sharbot Lake and Tweed. Loyalist is committed to helping students to pursue rewarding careers, as well as supporting and enhancing the economic and social development of all individuals in its communities. The Campus is also the home of Loyalist’s Community Employment Services, offered through the Ministry of Advanced Education and Skills Development for Bancroft and North Hastings communities, and beyond.
