Loyalist College Annual Job Fair – February 14, 2008

January 21, 2008

Loyalist College will host its annual job fair on Thursday, February 14 from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the cafeteria and gymnasium in the Kente Building. Approximately 100 employers participate in the annual event, many returning each year in search of additional Loyalist graduates to hire. The opportunity to meet so many students face-to-face and discuss the full-time, part-time and summer jobs available within their organizations benefits employers and students alike. The goal of the fair is to represent all of the College programs and allow students to talk with the representatives from the organizations and companies who are recruiting employees.

Some of the employers participating in this year’s job fair include:

“EMS-Tech is a successful and well-established global Engineering firm that is proud of its Belleville roots and long association with Loyalist College,” said Peter Malone, General Manager, EMS-Tech Inc. “Together with approximately ten Loyalist graduates, including Brian Stafford who is one of the founding members of the company, EMS-Tech is advancing into an exciting growth phase and expects to continue its good experiences with future candidates coming from the upcoming job fair.”

Constable David Williams is a recruiter with the RCMP and a member of Loyalist College’s Police Foundation Advisory Committee. “The RCMP has recruited from Loyalist for the past four years. The selection process to join the RCMP is stringent and demanding. However, the programs offered at Loyalist College provide its students with many of the skills sought by the RCMP. This is why we will continue to visit the College each month, and attend the yearly job fair.”

The official opening of the College’s new Career Centre will take place at 10:00 a.m. Local employers and company representatives participating in the job fair will be invited to tour the new Centre to learn about the many recruitment services available to them. “Our students are absolutely thrilled with the new resources and work space available to them and we are eager to share it with employers too,” said Connie Millar, Manager of Employment and Alumni Services. “The new Centre is spacious and beautiful, and its central location sends a clear message to students and employers that the success of our graduates is a top priority at Loyalist.”
