Loyalist College Aboriginal Resource Centre Hosts 20th Annual Festival of Native Arts

October 29, 2014

On Saturday, November 1, the Aboriginal Resource Centre at Loyalist College will host its 20th Annual Festival of Native Arts from 10 am to 4 pm in the Dining Hall of the Kente Building. There is no charge for admission and everyone is welcome.

Every year hundreds of people attend the festival, with live music and entertainment throughout the day. This year’s lineup of Native performers will feature Lacey Hill and Nani-Gish-Kung Big Drum along with returning artists David Finkle and the Tyendinaga Singers. Anataras Brant will emcee the event. More than 30 vendors will be selling traditional food and handmade items such as crafts, carvings, art work and leather items from across Ontario including Toronto, North Bay and the Six Nations area. Visiting Grandmothers will also host a craft table, guiding children in creating their own Native art. On the occasion of the festival’s 20th anniversary, the College will also launch its White Ribbon Campaign in support of an end to violence against women.
