Grade 7 and 8 Students Sample What Loyalist Has to Offer

February 27, 2013

On February 26, Loyalist College, in partnership with the Algonquin Lakeshore Catholic District School Board and the Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board, hosted a one-day event called Taste of Loyalist.  More than 40 grade seven and 80 grade eight students took part in a number of hands-on workshops, providing them with a glimpse of the post-secondary opportunities available at Loyalist. Students were able to select three workshops from Animation, Construction Renovation, Culinary Management, Electrical Techniques, Esthetics and Spa Management, Manufacturing, Nursing, Radio Broadcasting, Welding, or Journalism – Online, Print, and Broadcast.

The program, which is supported through the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities’ School-to-College-to-Work Initiative, is a partner project of the Eastern Lakeshore Regional Planning Team and PASS (Partnering to Articulate Student Success) Regional Planning Team.
