The Fall 2011 FOCUS calendar will be distributed through local newspapers beginning the weekend of August 5th. The publication presents the wide range of learning opportunities offered through the School of Continuing Education at Loyalist College. Over 800 part time, evening and distance education courses, certificate and diploma programs, as well as a number of shorter workshops, will be offered at the College’s campuses in Belleville and Bancroft, online and at five community locations. Many in-class courses start the week of September 12th. Distance courses start September 9th, with many having monthly intakes.
In addition to home delivery, FOCUS is available online at loyalistfocus.com. Registration begins on Friday, August 5th by web, mail, fax, drop-off, phone – or in person at the College.
Courses scheduled for this fall include Hello Cupcakes!, Zumba, Kids Can Cook, Decorative Folk Art, Virus Wars, Scrapbooking with Mom, Drum With Heart and Master Class for Photographers. A wide range of career-oriented certificate and diploma programs is available in areas such as Graphic Design, Accounting Techniques, Food Service Worker, Floral Design, Human Resources Management – and, new this fall, Internet Applications and Web Development. There are also apprenticeship opportunities in Early Childhood Education and Developmental Services Worker.
“We’re pleased to offer our students increasingly flexible options,” said Trudie Lake, Manager of Continuing Education at Loyalist. “There are a wide variety of classes offered on campus and a growing number of courses that are delivered by distance through online virtual classrooms and correspondence. Our goal is to provide accessible learning that is relevant, interesting and diverse – in order to meet the general interest and career-oriented goals of our communities.”
