Loyalist College Graduate Employment and Employer Satisfaction Rates above Average

Belleville, Ontario, April 19, 2012 – New statistics show that, despite a challenging economy, 86.7 percent of Loyalist graduates found jobs within six months of graduation, compared to the average of 83 percent for Ontario Colleges of Applied Arts and Technology.

The data also found 94.3 percent of employers of Loyalist College graduates were satisfied or very satisfied with the quality of the graduates they hired, compared to the average of 92.8 percent for Ontario Colleges, one of the strongest results for this indicator.

“We are delighted that our graduates consistently find jobs, despite the difficult economic climate,” said Loyalist College President Maureen Piercy. “Our outstanding faculty and staff, programs, and facilities help students gain the knowledge and experience required to adapt quickly to new innovations in the workforce. Employers value the education we provide, which prepares their employees to meet increasingly complex skill requirements. They continually tell us that our grads exceed their expectations.”

The graduate employment and employer satisfaction rates are among the independently gathered Key Performance Indicators (KPI) data for the province’s colleges that were released yesterday.

“Technology and trade are revolutionizing the workplace,” said Linda Franklin, president and CEO of Colleges Ontario. “Our colleges produce graduates who have the problem-solving abilities and technical skills to succeed. Growing numbers of students are pursuing college education because they know it leads to career success.”

Since 1998, the provincial KPIs have been gathered annually by two independent research firms for the colleges and for the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities. The most recent data were collected from March 2011 to February 2012.

The full KPI report is available at www.collegesontario.org.
