College Career Fair Successful for Employers and Students

February 09, 2012

Today the College hosted its 15th annual Career Fair and by the response of the students and employers who attended it would appear that the annual event was once more a great success.

“It was really helpful to have so many employers here together that are related to the field I will be graduating from. I talked with representatives from Canada Customs, the OPP, Belleville Police Department and Corrections Canada. By doing this I gained a better understanding of how to apply and the things that they are looking for in regard to life experience and skills. It was definitely worthwhile being here.”

“When I walked into the Career Fair and saw all the different employers that are related to my field of study I realized how broad my range of opportunities is. It was a great way to get information and speak with the different representatives.”

 Evan Bancroft, Quality Control, Cruickshank

“This is the third year that Cruickshank has participated in the Loyalist Career Fair. There are several Loyalist graduates working with us now. We were pleased to learn that there will be a large class of Civil Engineering graduates this spring and we’ve been accepting résumés today.”

Connie Campbell, Stegg Precision Machining

“We always participate in this Career Fair. I remember coming here as a student and now I’m on the other side of the table. Students seem pleased to learn that we have weekend and evening work available which enables them to make some extra money while still attending school.”

“We are new to the area so this is our first time at Loyalist’s Career Fair. The students have been mature and thoughtful with their questions and we’ve met people that we will definitely be calling. The Fair is very well organized and the staff has been professional and accommodating. We will definitely be back.”

Danielle MacDonald, Community and Justice Services Worker Student

“I had only been here a few moments and had given out two résumés and discussed my final placement opportunity with one of the employers. Even though I didn’t have classes today I came in for the Fair because I felt it was important. I was right.”
