Casting Call for Television and New Media Productions at Loyalist College — Community Members Invited to Audition

Third-year Television and New Media Production students at Loyalist College are set to begin what is possibly the most demanding and rewarding component of their program. Production is about to begin on full-length features and a weekly television series.

Three scripts have been chosen from students’ submissions and soon, casting, shooting and editing will be underway in preparation for the Majors debut at The Empire Theatre in the spring. Production is also underway for the College’s On-Campus television series. This is a weekly news entertainment show that highlights Loyalist’s programs, services, events, sports and issues of importance to students. It is aired on Belleville’s local station, Cogeco 4.

Auditions for the Majors features will be held on Wednesday, September 30th from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m., Saturday, October 3rd from 12:00 noon until 4:00 p.m., and Sunday, October 4th from 12:00 noon until 4:00 p.m. in the Kente building at Loyalist College. The casting crew is searching for individuals between the ages of 18 and 60.

This year’s scripts include My Cell – My Prison, Balance and Kayley. My Cell – My Prison is a story about a young man who discovers that the two separate worlds of life in prison and that of a boy in high school are not that different. Balance tells of a young girl struggling with eating disorders and trying to be accepted into a school of dance. Kayley is a story of how a young man’s life is turned upside down when he wakes one morning to discover the girl of his dreams beside him.

“The third-year students have been writing and editing their scripts for the past two years and we are thrilled with their results,” said Professor Kathleen Bazkur. “Now they have an opportunity to bring their stories to life. Our community has a strong theatrical talent base and this is a chance for those individuals to expand their acting experience from live productions to the big screen. The third year of the program definitely becomes a community effort for our Television and New Media Production students.”
