Building on the success of the Empty Bowls event in January 2012, Loyalist College is preparing to host the annual fundraiser in support of the Quinte Regional Food Sharing Shelter, a collective of nine area food banks.
Guests at the event can help to make a difference by purchasing a handcrafted bowl donated by local potters. They will also receive a bowl of gourmet soup prepared by Chef John Schneeberger, Loyalist College Culinary Management students, and Dinkels Restaurant in Belleville.
“The Empty Bowls event brings together a variety of community members to assist the Quinte region’s families in need,” said Susanne Quinlan, Director of Operations for the Gleaners Food Bank, Tri-County Food Network. “Local artists donate their handcrafted bowls, and students in the Loyalist Culinary Management program prepare the delicious soup for the event, which provides a marketplace for potters and small businesses to showcase their crafts for sale.”
Proceeds raised at the event will go toward food banks in Deseronto, Picton, Madoc, Marmora, Stirling, Wellington, Northbrook, and Belleville.
