Belleville, Ontario, March 8, 2012 – Loyalist College celebrated the success of 65 students on Tuesday, March 6, in the Link Lounge of the Sustainable Skills, Technology and Life Sciences Centre.
“This awards reception is a great occasion to celebrate the achievements and talents of our student recipients and the wonderful generosity of our award donors and sponsors,” said Maureen Piercy, President of Loyalist College. “Financial assistance can make a positive difference for our students, helping to set them up for success now and in the future as graduates who contribute to their community.”
At $50,925, these awards bring the total value of awards presented through the Awards Office this academic year to more than $330,000. Of that amount, over $134,000 has been provided by donors through the College Foundation.
“This award is going to be an immense help in my household, so I’m thrilled to win,” said Sheila Quinn, a third-year Loyalist College student in the Business Administration program. “I’m maintaining a 90 percent grade point average, and that’s after being out of school for almost 30 years. Now, as I prepare to finish my advanced diplomas in Human Resources and Materials Management, my twin daughters are getting ready to start in the fall. They’ve had their eyes set on Loyalist College for years.”
