PUTTING SUSTAINABILITY INTO PRACTICE

February 04, 2016

Belleville, Ontario, February 04, 2016 – Students from the Architectural Technician/Technology program at Loyalist College were visited by renowned sustainable homes builder Chris Magwood on January 26. Sustainable design is an important focus of the Architecture program at Loyalist; so learning about real-world experiences was an excellent opportunity for the students. During his presentation, Chris offered insight into sustainable building material alternatives students can incorporate into their designs as they progress in their careers.

Chris is the Executive Director of the Endeavour Centre in Peterborough, a not-for-profit sustainable building school specializing in sustainable building materials and technologies, runs a five-month program at the Endeavour Centre where students in the program complete construction of a full-scale sustainable building project. He is a published author of, Making Better Buildings: A Comparative Guide for Sustainable Construction, a book which offers a wealth of information on using energy efficient building materials and designs to develop more environmentally friendly homes.
