Loyalist College is proud to host the 53rd Annual Quinte Regional Science and Technology Fair, one of the oldest annual science fairs in Canada. More than 200 students will be presenting over 150 projects, and competing for various awards, prizes and scholarships. During the event from 11:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m., the College will be offering tours of its School of Biosciences, within the College’s new 121,800-square foot Sustainable Skills, Technology and Life Sciences Centre. In each of its advanced lab facilities, there will be interactive displays running.
“For elementary and secondary school students, the Science and Technology Fair provides an exceptional opportunity to present their project to a panel of judges and members of the public, as well as their family, friends, and teachers who supported them along the way,” said Maureen Piercy, President of Loyalist College. “As an innovation centre for the Quinte region, the College is committed to laying the groundwork for advancements in science and technology. We want young people today to have the passion and knowledge necessary to take advantage of the opportunities available for them to thrive in the future.”
To get people excited about the possibilities of science and technology, a troupe of Loyalist students in the Biosciences program will be performing as science buskers who travel around the gym and cafeteria, conducting fun and entertaining experiments. To comfortably accommodate the large number of expected attendees, the awards ceremony this year will be held in the new Automotive Centre.
