- On Tuesday, May 6 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., the Harm Reduction Task Force of Hastings & Prince Edward is sponsoring YOUTH: Understanding the Teenage Brain. The event will explore why teens seek the thrill of risky behaviours and how to promote resiliency in our children. Dr. Jean Clinton will explore the teenage brain with other speakers as well as a separate evening presentation from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on How Family, Friends and other Relationships Impact the Teenage Brain. Both events will be held in Maranatha Auditorium during Education Week. Local speakers will talk about alcohol and prescription drug use as well as resources available for vulnerable youth in our community. Local agencies will be available to answer questions about their agency in relation to their services including Harm Reduction. Tickets will be available April 1 and can be purchased at Hastings & Prince Edward Counties Health Unit offices, Mental Health Services office, Books and Company and Balu’s Pharmacy. The day session costs $35 and includes a light lunch. The evening event is $10. Subsidized rates are available. Please contact Anne-Marie for more information.
