Tuition, fees and financial resources
- The Tuition and fees web page includes details about the types of charges you can expect as a student, including a breakdown of tuition, ancillary and program ancillary fees.
- Be sure to review the information about student statuses and fee implications. It’s important to understand that tuition fees are assessed by student status and not by course registration.
- The myFees app on the myLoyalist portal is where you’ll find your invoice for the current academic year, broken down by the three semesters (Fall, Winter and Spring).
- Your invoice is an estimate, based on the assumption that you’ll be registered as full-time student in each of your planned semesters.
- In myFees you’ll also find recommended booklists, supplies and program-related costs. The “Payment Options” tab will display either a deposit payment requirement or the tuition payment schedule depending on your residency (domestic or international).
- Find out more about OSAP and explore the many financial supports and resources that might be available to help you pay for college.
Deposits and payments
Domestic students pay a $250 non-refundable deposit once per academic year.
- New domestic students must pay the deposit by the deadline to secure their seat in the program – if payment is not received, your application may be cancelled.
- Returning domestic students pay a deposit in the first term of the new academic year.
International students pay their full semester fees in advance of the semester.
- New international students must pay their fees by the deadline to secure their seat in the program – if payment is not received, your application may be cancelled.
- Returning international students pay their fees by the due date.
All students: If applicable, any balance of fees is due by the first day of classes each semester. Late fees will be applied to accounts with an outstanding balance after the due date. Please refer to the Academic calendar for all important dates.
Registration, timetables, withdrawals and refunds
- Registration begins approximately one month before the beginning of the semester and continues throughout the first 10 days of classes.
- New and returning students will be registered by the college as appropriate payment is received. Once you have been registered, your timetable will be available in the student information system (Banner), which you can access through the myLoyalist portal.
- If something changes and you no longer plan to start or continue in your program, you must officially withdraw to avoid financial obligations and academic penalties.
- Domestic students who withdraw within the first 10 days of classes are eligible for a refund less an administrative withdrawal fee.
- International students who withdraw within the first 10 days of classes are eligible for a refund less an administrative fee depending on the withdrawal scenario.
Academic advising and progression
- The requirements for your program are outlined in the program map.
- Your program of study will include core courses and may also include core electives, mandatory and elective general education requirements, and experiential learning courses and opportunities.
- Courses may also have pre-requisites and co-requisites. If you fail or drop a course that is a pre-requisite or a co-requisite, your progression in the program may be impacted and this may affect student status, fees, OSAP and program completion.
- If you are required to select a general education (GNED) elective for the upcoming term, you’ll receive an email with instructions before the GNED self-registration portal opens. If you don’t register for a GNED course in the semester in which it is required and you need to pick it up later, additional fees will apply.
- Explore our transfer credit and prior learning and assessment recognition (PLAR) options to see if you can receive credit towards your program requirements based on previous post-secondary education or professional experiences.
- Be sure to review academic, student and other policies to ensure you understand your rights and responsibilities as a Loyalist College student.
