Below is an outline of the different types of fees and costs.
- Post-secondary tuition fees are charged to students to support the cost of academic program delivery and the general operations of the college.
- College ancillary fees are charged to students for support services and activities which are distinct from academic programming.
- Program ancillary fees (included supplies) are charged to students in specific programs, if applicable. These non-refundable fees cover program-specific activities, resources and supplies that are necessary for success in the program, such as co-op fees, equipment, learning materials, uniforms, and material used in the production of items that become the property of the student.
- Textbooks and recommended supplies are costs for resources which students purchase themselves. These costs can range from $500 to $2,500 per year.
Full-time students
To qualify as a full-time student, a course load must represent at least 70 percent of the billable hours of the courses required for the semester of the program in which you are enrolled. See the Program Maps page for an overview of your program’s scheduled courses.
Part-time students
Students taking a course load that is less than that prescribed for full-time students are designated as part-time day students. The standard tuition fee for most part-time day courses is $5.59 per hour for domestic students and $31.62 per hour for international students, plus an ancillary fee of $1.86 per student contact hour.
Course overload
Students taking a course load that is more than the 100 percent prescribed for full-time students in a particular program semester are in an overload status. Students in overload will be charged an additional tuition fee based on the number of hours that are in excess of the 100 percent total. The hourly rate is equivalent to the hourly part-time rate. No additional ancillary fees are charged. Students may go into overload if they need to re-take a course or if they take courses out of sequence.
Students with permanent disabilities
Students with permanent disabilities may be eligible for a reduced tuition fee after paying the equivalent of full tuition for their program of study. Registration and documentation are required. Students can opt in to pay the full-time student ancillary fees in order to access all services.
Learn more about the reduced tuition fee for students with disabilities
Students with disabilities who require the accommodation of a reduced course load due to the impact of a documented disability may be eligible to have tuition fees reduced for the final courses needed to complete their program.
What students need to know
You should pay the same amount of tuition fees for a program as other students without a disability if you were required to complete any semester on a reduced course load.
To be eligible, you must have a permanent disability with supporting documentation that confirms the disability and the need for a reduced course load as a learning accommodation.
This policy only covers one program even though you may have changed programs over the time you were registered.
If you are on a reduced course load as an accommodation and have paid the equivalent of full tuition for the program, you will only be charged $20 per course plus college ancillary fees until you complete your program.
This policy covers only courses that you completed successfully and for which you paid. It does not cover courses that you need to take again due to late withdrawal or unsuccessful completion.
If you are eligible to receive OSAP funding, the reduced tuition fee should be reflected in your assessment. If your OSAP assessment did not take into consideration the reduced fee, you may require a reassessment and are advised to contact the Financial Aid Office. You do not need to be OSAP-eligible to qualify for the reduced tuition fee.
Please make an appointment with AccessAbility Services to discuss this policy, assess your eligibility, and to register for the reduced tuition fee.
