The National Student Loans Service Centre (NSLSC) is where you sign your Master Student Financial Assistance Agreement, manage your student loan, make loan repayments, and apply for repayment assistance.

Registering with the NSLSC

Once you submit your OSAP application, you will receive a welcome email from the NSLSC with instructions to register and complete the Master Student Financial Assistance Agreement (MSFAA). To complete this process, you will need to:

  • Register for an online account with the NSLSC (via GCKey or SecureKey), if you have not already done so.
  • Review your personal information such as contact and address information.
  • Provide your financial institution (banking) information, so that your student funding can be deposited directly into your account and avoid any delays.
  • Review and accept the terms and conditions of the MSFAA.

As part of this registration process, you will enter your 10-digit MSFAA number. You can find your 10-digit MSFAA number by logging into your OSAP account and going to your “Required documents” page. If you’ve asked the ministry to send you notification by mail, you can also check the paper notice that would have been sent to you.

SecureKey Sign-In Partners are financial institutions that have partnered with SecureKey Technologies to enable their customers to use their online credentials (e.g., card numbers or usernames and passwords) to access Government of Canada services.

GCKey is a Government of Canada service that issues credentials (username and password) that are used to access (log in to) federal government services online. The GCKey service can be used by clients who do not have, or choose not to use, a credential they may already have with one of the SecureKey Sign-In Partners.

Review the NSLSC FAQs for more information.

Confirmation of Enrolment

If you are planning to go back to school and you have previous OSAP loans, you may need to confirm your enrolment with the NSLSC.

  • If you have applied for OSAP for the first time or you have applied for new OSAP funding before your repayment start date, there is nothing more you need to do – the Financial Aid Office will confirm your enrolment on your behalf shortly before your study period begins.
  • If you have previous OSAP loans and you are returning to school full-time but not applying for OSAP, you must submit a Continuation of Interest-Free Status (CIFS) application.
