Recent achievements
- We had an external firm perform an EDI audit to help us understand the current state of the college through an EDI lens and outline recommendations on areas that need to be addressed/improved.
- We advocated for a revision of policy FIN 504 to include a dependent care benefit, providing support to employees with dependents in the event where they must incur care expenses due to business travel needs.
- *Note: This benefit is approved and in effect but is currently in the process of being written into the formal policy.
- We have hired student staff since April 2024 to research key issues from a student perspective and develop programming to elevate understanding of EDI concepts through engaging events and workshops.
- We launched an EDI Committee that represents diverse groups across the institution including students, staff, faculty and unions.
- We have launched an EDI Conversation Series to showcase inspiring individuals in our community from many walks of life who have navigated various barriers to achieve their goals.
- We have reinstated an Accessibility Steering Committee to provide input and consultation for the preparation, implementation, and monitoring of accessibility plans. More Accessibility and AODA information can be found here.
What we’re working on
- We continue to partner with Institutional Research and Human Resources to establish a framework for EDI data collection, analysis and reporting.
- We are part of the Dimensions Canada 2025 Cohort, working with and learning from various post-secondary institutions across Canada to identify and eliminate barriers to EDI across their campuses and research environments.
- We are planning various student-facing and employee-facing workshops throughout the 2025-2026 academic year to increase awareness, understanding and connection within our college community.
