Belleville, ON, April 27, 2023  – Students and staff joined industry partners at Loyalist College last week to celebrate the official opening of the Health and IMPACT Centre, another major capital project completed at the College this year.

The Health and IMPACT Centre will focus on supporting student wellness, creating a central location for Loyalist’s health and support services in one state-of-the-art facility. The offerings onsite include a Student Health Centre, counselling services, and academic supports such as mentoring, deaf and hard-of-hearing services, and accessibility services.

“The Centre underpins Loyalist’s holistic approach to education,” said Aaron Doupe, Senior Director, Health and Equitable Learning at Loyalist College. “We value our students as whole people with needs beyond the academic experience. We are committed to getting to know each of our students personally and tailoring our support to their specific needs.”

The ribbon cutting ceremony on April 21 opened with remarks from Mark Kirkpatrick, Loyalist College President and CEO, Aaron Doupe, Senior Director, Health and Equitable Learning, and Ravi Patel, outgoing Student Government President. Attendees also toured the newly renovated space.

“As Loyalist strives to make a positive impact on the lives of its students – supporting their well-being, learning experiences and career goals – our students also make an impact on the College,” said President Kirkpatrick. “Our Student Government’s support for this Centre demonstrates the transformative impact of student leadership at Loyalist.”
