Belleville, Ontario, June 14, 2022 – As part of its 55th Convocation ceremonies, Loyalist College presented Julie Anne Harris, graduate of the Computer Systems Technician program, with the prestigious Governor General’s Academic Medal. This award is in recognition of exceptional academic achievement.

“Congratulations to Julie on this award of national significance,” said Dr. Ann Marie Vaughan, Loyalist College President and CEO. “The Governor General’s Academic Medal is among the most prestigious honours that a student in a Canadian educational institution can receive. We are immensely proud of you for your tremendous resiliency and dedication to your studies. I look forward to seeing big things on your horizon as you harness your skills, passion and endless potential.”

The Collegiate Bronze Medal is awarded to the student who achieves the highest overall average upon graduation from a diploma-level, postsecondary program. Julie graduates with an outstanding academic record and a cumulative average of 97.94 percent.

“I feel the knowledge I’ve learned through my education at Loyalist will be invaluable as I pursue my chosen career path,” said Julie. “I’m so grateful for all the support I received from my professors and fellow students, especially given the difficulty when it comes to teaching during a global pandemic. I’m looking forward to putting my new skills to use with a career in the information technology sector.”
