Belleville, ON, Nov. 21, 2024 – Loyalist College is excited to introduce its new Dental Office Administration program, a one-year Ontario College Certificate designed to prepare students for key roles in managing dental office operations and supporting exceptional patient care. The program will welcome its first class in Fall 2025, providing students with specialized training for a rewarding career in the health care field.

Students in the Dental Office Administration program will gain the skills and professionalism required to effectively oversee essential systems, software and communications that keep a dental office running smoothly. The curriculum blends classroom learning with hands-on application, equipping students with expertise in information management, scheduling, financial record maintenance, and the interpersonal skills critical to supporting both patients and dental professionals.

“As Loyalist College trains the next generation of health care providers, it is equally essential to prepare the professionals who support the seamless delivery of these services,” says Dr. Amanda Baskwill, Senior Vice-President, Academic and Chief Learning Officer at Loyalist College. “Dental office administrators are the backbone of efficient dental practices, acting as the bridge between patients and dental health professionals. Students will develop the versatile skills needed to succeed in a fast-paced dental office, enabling dental teams to deliver quality treatment and ensuring patients receive coordinated, compassionate care.”

Mark Kirkpatrick, President and CEO of Loyalist College, emphasizes the college’s commitment to developing programs that directly address the evolving needs of the region. “With the demand for health care services on the rise, it’s critical to have skilled professionals who ensure patient care is accessible and organized,” he says. “Oral health is integral to overall wellness, and this program will equip students to support patient-centred operations in dental offices, enabling them to make a positive impact on the quality and responsiveness of local health services.”
