Loyalist College is committed to providing a safe and respectful environment for all College community members. The College encourages a culture where all community members act with respect and integrity. The College will not tolerate violence or harassment on college property or while representing the College at any location. All reports of violent incidents, harassment or concerning behaviours will be taken seriously, investigated, and responded to in a timely manner.
Violence includes the attempted or actual exercise of any intentional physical force that causes or may cause physical injury to a college community member. It also includes any threats or behaviours which give a person reasonable ground to believe he or she is at risk of physical injury. Aggressive and disruptive behaviours are in conflict with the College’s values and code of conduct. Harassment is engaging in a course of vexatious comments or conduct that is unwelcome.
Our expectations of college community members:
- All College community members will conduct themselves in a manner that shows respect for the individuality and uniqueness of others.
- All members of our college community will report incidents of violence, harassment, high-risk or concerning behaviours.
- Weapons will not be brought onto the College campus. College community members wishing to use replica weapons for educational purposes will obtain prior approval.
- All College employees will take advantage of violence and harassment prevention training opportunities and follow violence and harassment prevention procedures.
- All faculty and supervisory staff will promptly and directly address problem behaviours within their area of responsibility and reinforce the College’s accepted standards of behaviour.
Violence and harassment prevention is everyone’s responsibility.
