Belleville, Ontario, May 24, 2023 – Loyalist College and The Children’s Foundation are working together to make summer fun, affordable, accessible and inclusive for families in the Bay of Quinte region through Summer Camps for Kids. Registration is now open, and camps start as early as July 10.

“We’re proud to welcome our community to campus again this year for the Summer Camps for Kids program,” said Loyalist College President and CEO Mark Kirkpatrick. “This amazing program contributes to growth, stimulates curiosity, and provides a safe space for youth to explore new skills while developing lifelong friendships and memories. We are grateful for The Children’s Foundation’s generous support and guidance as we partner on this year’s Summer Camps for Kids.”

Children from grades 1-3 (6-8 years old) can choose from various STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and math) camps, including Flying Through the Air – Birds, Planes, Helicopters and more. This program allows campers to learn about the principles of aerodynamics and gain a deeper understanding of how flight is an integral part of our world.

Camps for kids in grades 4-6 (9-12 years old) focus on the skilled trades, including coding and construction. The College’s Minecraft Modification and Automation program teaches campers how to modify and automate Minecraft gameplay using coding concepts and principles. Not only is gaming fun, it’s also a fast-growing industry. By learning game design, campers will dream up their own game ideas, create compelling content and get a taste of what it takes to build levels.

In addition to offering a series of week-long camps, Summer Camps for Kids includes before- and after-camp care and a healthy, nutritious lunch. Summer sessions are open for campers born between 2011 – 2017 and include the weeks of:

  • July 10 – 14
  • July 17 – 21
  • July 24 – 28
  • July 31 – Aug. 4
  • Aug. 14 – 18
  • Aug. 21 – 25

Applications are reviewed on a first-apply, first-approved basis. Income-based financial support is available to remove barriers to attending camp. Families applying for support are automatically considered for both Loyalist College Financial Assistance (up to $300/child/per week) and The Children’s Foundation subsidy.

Interested in applying? Apply by contacting mdyck@loyalistcollege.com or visiting the Summer Camps for Kids website. Local business and community partners interested in supporting Summer Camps programming are encouraged to contact aharder@loyalistcollege.com.
