Out of this world: Loyalist College hosts a musical evening with Chris Hadfield
Referred to as “the most famous astronaut since Neil Armstrong,” Colonel Chris Hadfield served as NASA’s Director of Operations and the first Canadian commander of the International Space Station. Among his many accomplishments, Hadfield has flown three space missions, built two space stations, performed two spacewalks and crewed the Shuttle and Soyuz.
Alongside his career as a highly decorated astronaut, engineer and pilot, Hadfield’s musical broadcasts from outer space – including a viral rendition of David Bowie’s Space Oddity – helped spread the wonder and excitement of modern space exploration with people around the world. Here on earth, Hadfield continues to creatively share his passion for science through music, books, speeches, TV shows and more.
“Chris Hadfield’s vision, drive and dedication have allowed him to lead an extraordinary life with global impact,” said Mark Kirkpatrick, Acting President of Loyalist College. “We are honoured to welcome this inspiring leader to our College this spring to share his gift for music and storytelling with students, staff and the greater Bay of Quinte community.”
Tickets are available for $10. Guests are invited to submit a question on the event registration page for the Q-and-A period. Visit loyalistcollege.com/speakerseries to learn more. All proceeds from this event will be donated to The Loyalist College Foundation to support awards, bursaries, and student scholarships.
