The Schulich Foundation supports skilled trades students at Loyalist College
Belleville, Ontario, Feb. 9, 2023 – Today, The Schulich Foundation named Loyalist College as one of ten Ontario colleges participating in the Schulich Builders scholarship program. The program provides ten Loyalist students with essential financial support to cover tuition, tools and living expenses as they complete their post-secondary education in the skilled trades.
As participants in the program, Loyalist College will award:
• Five $20,000 scholarships for one-year certificate programs, and
• Five $40,000 scholarships for two-year diploma programs.
In addition to financial support, Schulich Builders provides leadership training and mentorship to set up graduates for success.
“As Loyalist develops and delivers responsive programs aligned to the needs of industry, we are grateful to participate in the Schulich Builders scholarship program,” said Mark Kirkpatrick, Acting President. “It’s critical to remove barriers for students entering the skilled trades workforce to ensure we can train the next generation of professionals who will design, build, and maintain our communities’ essential infrastructure. On behalf of the entire Loyalist community, I’d like to thank The Schulich Foundation for this generous support as we aim to close the local skills gap and prepare our students with the knowledge and experience they need to succeed.”
