1. Introduction and Purpose

The College will operate a web site that will demonstrate for our global community the high quality of life and learning at Loyalist College and will facilitate communications, administrative functions, research and course delivery.

The purpose of this policy is to outline the principles for College’s web site.

2. Application

This policy applies to the College community.

3. Policy Statement

The presence of the College on the Internet will contribute to the strategic goals of the College in the following ways:

  • 3.1 an interactive web site will serve as a unifying College project whereby generations of Loyalist students, alumni and staff can collaborate to build a knowledge place of shared information, skills and experience for the use and benefit of all members of the Loyalist community;
  • 3.2 an interactive web site will offer college programs and learning resources to the global Internet community and deliver these to registered users of the College site, and thereby contribute to the marketing and growth of the College;
  • 3.3 an interactive web site will help forge partnerships between the College and the workplace and thereby increase and diversify the College’s capital and human resources;
  • 3.4 an interactive web site will facilitate collaboration across College departments and schools and thereby support the College’s evolution toward the team-based, task-oriented workplace of the twenty-first century; and
  • 3.5 an interactive web site will provide a public forum of comment and discussion about the College’s activities, goals and achievements and thereby enhance the College’s image in the community as a responsive and open institution.
