Belleville, ON, Sept. 13, 2024 – Loyalist College is pleased to announce that home renovation expert and HGTV star Scott McGillivray will take the stage for the next instalment of the Loyalist College Speaker Series on Oct. 9 at 5:30 p.m.

As an experienced contractor, entrepreneur, and executive producer, McGillivray has spent nearly two decades building his career in the home renovation industry. Known for hosting hit shows such as Income Property, Moving the McGillivrays, Buyers Bootcamp and Scott’s Vacation House Rules, McGillivray has helped countless homeowners make smart renovation decisions and inspired many to pursue hands-on careers in the trades.

During his talk, McGillivray will share how his foundational knowledge as a contractor has shaped his career and offer practical insights on the opportunities presented by Canada’s growing demand for skilled trades professionals.

“We’re thrilled to welcome our community back to campus for another instalment of Loyalist’s Speaker Series,” says Loyalist College President and CEO Mark Kirkpatrick. “McGillivray’s unique journey from contractor and entrepreneur to TV personality demonstrates how skilled trades training, paired with an entrepreneurial mindset, can lead to rewarding, varied, and successful careers. We hope his story inspires our students and community to explore the vast opportunities within the skilled trades.”

This free community event was made possible through the generosity of the Weston Family Foundation, the Schulich Foundation, and the Canerector Foundation.
