Belleville, Ontario, November 19, 2021 – A new Artificial Intelligence and Data Science Ontario Graduate Certificate program at Loyalist College will prepare students to lead the way in building, leveraging and supporting data systems and the use of transformative AI technology across industries in the public and private sectors.

With the financial impact of artificial intelligence on the global economy expected to reach trillions of dollars by 2025, the need for graduates ready to capitalize on the power of emerging technologies will continue to grow. Students in this one-year post-graduate program will graduate with the necessary skills to collect, manage and analyze data in support of strategic decision-making and technological advancement in the workplace.

“As artificial intelligence and data sciences change the world as we know it, we recognize our local industry partners are in need of talented, skilled professionals to support their modernization and remain competitive,” said Dr. Ann Marie Vaughan, Loyalist College President and CEO. “Graduates of Loyalist College’s new Artificial Intelligence and Data Science program will enter the workforce ready to drive change and lead innovation with the skills to adapt to this new frontier.”

Beginning in Fall 2022, students in the program will learn about artificial intelligence and data science through training in predictive, descriptive, and prescriptive analytics.

Students will gain the knowledge and skills required to design and apply data models; recommend data storage technologies to support data analytics; develop software applications to manipulate data sets; design and present data visualizations for various audiences; apply data analytics to support evidence-based decision-making; identify and assess data analytics business strategies and workflows in compliance with corporate policies, ethical standards, and industry regulations; develop AI models and agents that use enterprise data to identify patterns, provide insights, recommend actions or perform tasks autonomously on behalf of stakeholders; as well as analyze, design, and implement AI systems.

This program is ideal for innovative, inquisitive, statistical thinkers who are interested in expanding their knowledge of cyber security, machine learning or data science.
