Belleville, Ontario, June 1, 2022 – On Friday, May 27, Loyalist College celebrated the naming of The Janine Huff Nursing Simulation Lab, in recognition of the Huff family’s outstanding philanthropic leadership and continued support of Loyalist College and its students.

“We are delighted to unveil the name of The Janine Huff Nursing Simulation Lab and honour the Huff family’s role as pillars of support for the Loyalist community,” said Dr. Ann Marie Vaughan, Loyalist College President and CEO. “For over 25 years, their exceptional generosity, volunteer work, community advocacy and major financial contributions have helped shape Loyalist College into a destination for experiential learning. As a graduate of Loyalist’s Nursing program, we are proud to have Janine Huff’s name represent this state-of-the-art space where we will continue to train the future of our healthcare workforce.”

Lanny and Catharine Huff have been strong financial supporters of Loyalist College for over 25 years, beginning with a donation made during an annual appeal to establish Alumni Hall in 1995, in honour of their daughter Janine. In 2008, the Huff family established The Peter F. Huff Endowment Fund in memory of their son, a former student at the College, to provide financial assistance to Prince Edward County students studying at Loyalist. The Huffs were also major contributors to the building of The Bay of Quinte Skills Centre, recognized with the naming of The Peter F. Huff Automotive Centre in November 2013. More recently, the family has supported the expanding health and wellness programming at the College – an initiative which began in 2016 with the newly renovated third floor of the Northumberland Wing.

In addition, Catharine Huff served as a Director on The Loyalist College Foundation from 2010 until 2019, and was a member of the College’s Marketing, Sales and Advertising Program Advisory Committee.

“Thank you to Loyalist College for this great honour and we are so pleased to have our daughter recognized with the naming of The Janine Huff Nursing Simulation Lab,” said Catharine Huff. “Janine is a nurturing soul, and we are so proud of her. We’ve had a number of our family members graduate from Loyalist and it is a wonderful College doing great things in our community. It deserves to be supported and we look forward to following their ongoing impact.”

The Janine Huff Nursing Simulation Lab is located in the College’s renovated Northumberland Wing, and houses high-tech interprofessional simulation environments where students in the College’s School of Health, Human and Justice Studies experience hands-on learning in realistic, interactive scenarios.
