Loyalist College graduate prepares to compete at WorldSkills Competiton in Bordeaux, France
Belleville, ON, Oct. 14, 2022 –Next week, the Loyalist College community will rally behind recent graduate Spencer Chandu-Lall as he competes at the WorldSkills Competition 2022 Special Edition in Bordeaux, France from Oct. 19 – 22 in the Mechanical Engineering CAD category.
With over 1,000 competitors from 58 countries, the WorldSkills Competition is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for students to showcase their expertise on an international stage. Spencer, a 2022 graduate of Loyalist’s Manufacturing Engineering Technician program, qualified for a place on Team Canada when he took home gold at the Skills Canada National Competition 2022 in May.

Mechanical Engineering CAD is at the cutting-edge of manufacturing and engineering design, using computer software to create plans with greater detail and precision across various industries, from automotive to aerospace. Competitors will take part in four days of challenges designed to test their skills in 3D printing, 3D scanning and parametric modeling.
Loyalist College faculty member Jeremy Braithwaite, Coordinator and Professor for the Mechatronics, Manufacturing and Electrical Engineering Technician programs, will accompany Spencer to the competition. Jeremy serves as the Team Canada Expert for Mechanical Engineering CAD, coaching and supporting Team Canada competitors during international competitions.
