Health Plan

At Loyalist College, full-time students enjoy comprehensive health coverage throughout the academic year. Our plan includes essential health services to ensure you're well-supported during your studies.

As a full-time domestic or international student at Loyalist, you will receive prescription drug coverage and accident benefits.

International students also receive 12-month accidental/emergency health and accident coverage while they are in Canada through GuardMe International Insurance.

Coverage period for each semester

Please keep receipts from prescription drug purchases or accident claims to make a manual claim once the blackout period ends.

Eligibility

Full-time students at our Belleville, Bancroft, Port Hope, and Tyendinaga locations, as well as Distance students in the ECE and DSW programs are eligible for health plan coverage. To maintain eligibility, students must be enrolled in at least 70 percent of the course hours required for their program each semester. Dropping a course may affect your status as a full-time student, impacting your eligibility for the health plan.

Students with documented permanent disabilities

You are considered full-time when registered with a minimum of 40 percent course load if you have the appropriate documentation. Please verify your disability status with the Financial Aid Office or AccessAbility Services.

If you qualify and want to opt into the health plan, please email advising@loyalistcollege.com with your request before or during the opt-in period.
