  • Name of the school/institution you are registered with (i.e. OntarioLearn, Athabasca, etc.)
  • Preferred testing date and time
Important Steps:

All tests must be booked five (5) business days prior to writing.

    • Methods of payment will be provided when your booking is confirmed. If you are an OntarioLearn student registered with Loyalist College or your host school/institution has requested they be invoiced the costs, the $60 testing fee will not apply.

Loyalist Admissions Testing

Admission testing is currently being conducted in-person in the ACT or online with a proctor.

Mature Applicants

If you’re 19 years old on the first day of classes and don’t have an OSSD, you’re considered a mature applicant. You’ll need to complete the required subjects for admission. If you lack these subjects, you might need to take a diagnostic test or complete academic upgrading. Each case is handled individually, so contact the Admissions Office early at admissions@loyalistcollege.com to find out if pre-entry testing or preparatory studies are necessary.

Once you have applied as a mature applicant, you may be invited to write the Mature Applicant Pre-Entry Test(s).

If the program you applied for requires Grade 12 English and/or Mathematics, you will write English and/or Mathematics tests.

The admissions officer will advise you what is required and provide you with options for writing the test. You may choose to write the test immediately or schedule an appointment for a later time.

You will be required to pay a fee of $40 (HST included) after writing the pre-test. You will be notified of your assessment results by email.

Pre-Entry Tests

Pre-Entry testing is currently being conducted in-person in the ACT or online with a proctor.

ACCUPLACER is an assessment tool used to determine your knowledge in math, reading and writing as you prepare to enrol in college-level courses. The test determines if you are eligible for direct entry into your college program of interest. This test is used to identify your strengths and challenges in each subject area. The results of the assessment, in conjunction with your academic background, goals and interests, are used by academic advisors and counsellors to place you in the appropriate courses that meet your skill level.
