Belleville, ON, Dec. 16, 2022  – Last week, Loyalist College celebrated the opening of Unwind, a new state-of-the-art spa at the College’s Belleville campus, operated by students, faculty and support staff in Loyalist College’s Esthetics & Spa Management program. Part of the first phase in Loyalist’s capital renovations, Unwind is an industry-aligned teaching and learning spa that will open its doors to offer high-quality, student-led esthetic services to the Bay of Quinte region.

Industry partners and alumni joined College faculty, staff and students for a special ribbon cutting ceremony on Dec. 8, followed by a tour of the new facilities. Students from the Esthetics & Spa Management program performed facial and pedicure demonstrations for guests.

“With professional-quality products, upgraded training equipment, and luxury retail capacity, Unwind takes hands-on learning at Loyalist to the next level,” said Mark Kirkpatrick, Acting President of Loyalist College. “Under the supervision of expert College faculty, students will apply their skills on real clients who come to the College to receive first-class treatments and meet the next generation of estheticians and spa industry leaders.”

Available services include manicures, pedicures, brow and lash tinting, facials, hair removal and makeup artistry. Faculty ensure Unwind services are up to date with industry trends by facilitating regular visits from leading spa and salon owners, aromatherapists, nail technicians and makeup artists.

“Our region continues to be a popular destination for people seeking the best of Ontario’s hospitality and wellness experiences,” said Kathleen Bazkur, Dean, School of Media, Business and Access at Loyalist College. “With hands-on training in Loyalist’s new spa environment, students of our Esthetics and Spa Management program will graduate ready to succeed in this thriving market.”

Unwind with us at Loyalist – appointments are available beginning Jan. 13.
