A record 3,654 students are studying at Loyalist College, surpassing the pre-pandemic high of 3,518 in fall 2019.

“Loyalist has become Ontario’s Destination College because students recognize our small size and student-centred approach enables them to get the one-on-one attention they need to accomplish big things,” said Acting President of Loyalist College Mark Kirkpatrick. “We’re very pleased with our enrolment numbers this fall, and excited to see more students choosing Loyalist for their post-secondary journeys.”

After years of decline in domestic enrolment across the college sector in Ontario, Loyalist’s semester one enrolment numbers have increased since last fall. The College’s student body is also seeing an increase in diversity as students from over 27 countries around the world have now chosen Destination Loyalist to pursue their academic education.

“We’re excited to have students from across Canada and the world coming here to benefit from Loyalist’s unparalleled hands-on, work-integrated learning opportunities, innovative curriculum, and incredible student life experience,” continued Kirkpatrick. “Our goal is to provide each of our students with all the tools they need to graduate career-ready and make an immediate impact in the workforce.”

Loyalist welcomed students to campus with activities designed to celebrate the first in-person Orientation week since 2019. The week began with an open-air market and featured health and wellness activities, workshops, sporting events, and culminated with the College’s traditional Friday Night Lights event.

With a record number of students on campus in Belleville this semester, Loyalist’s recent announcement of a new campus in Port Hope couldn’t be timelier. Opening in September 2023, the College looks forward to providing residents in Port Hope and across Northumberland County the opportunity to attend in-person classes close to home.
