Loyalist College announces executive appointments
Senior Vice-President, External Relations & Business Development
Jeremy Laurin has been appointed Senior Vice-President, External Relations & Business Development, effective May 4. Mr. Laurin will be responsible for a range of College services, including Advancement; Marketing, Communications & Recruitment; Career Services; Alumni Services; Continuing Education; Loyalist Training & Knowledge Centre; and Loyalist Exam Services. Reporting to the President, he will lead Loyalist’s business development initiatives and innovative partnerships to drive new revenue that will contribute to Loyalist’s growth for the benefit of students and the Bay of Quinte region.
Mr. Laurin will join Loyalist from OCE where he is Vice-President, Business Development and Partnerships. Having joined OCE in June 2018, he leads a team of Business Development Managers from across the province in identifying industry needs and determining how they may be best met through the latest breakthroughs in academia. Prior to OCE, Jeremy was the founding President and CEO of ventureLAB, an innovation hub based in Markham and serving Central Ontario and the northern GTA, ventureLAB reaches more than 1.8 million Ontarians. Mr. Laurin was also President and CEO of the Innovation Synergy Centre Markham (ISCM), and prior to that he served as an Investment Director for the Investment Accelerator Fund (IAF).

Jeremy is from Eastern Ontario and his family lives between Kingston and the Bay of Quinte region. Jeremy and his wife live in Prince Edward County and are deeply involved in community development. Jeremy will be a valuable addition to the College Executive Team as we expand our private partnerships and explore new avenues for increasing Loyalist’s financial competitiveness within a global post-secondary industry.”
Senior Vice-President, Corporate Services & CFO
Mark Kirkpatrick has been appointed Senior Vice-President, Corporate Services & CFO. He has been Acting Senior Vice-President, Corporate Services & CFO since December 2019 and has worked at Loyalist for nearly 15 years, previously as Senior Director, Infrastructure and Director, Information Technology. Mr. Kirkpatrick has an MBA, Business from McMaster University and an Applied Science, Electrical degree from Queen’s University.
“Mark has made significant enhancements to the College’s technology systems to meet the needs of today’s learners,” said President Vaughan. “He also led renovations to the third floor of the Northumberland Wing (2016) which has put the College on the map as a leader for interprofessional simulation training in the health, human and justice sectors. His vision and leadership will assist in guiding the College through continued growth to better serve our students and increase the College’s economic contributions to the region.”
