Co-op work terms are valuable work-integrated learning experiences that allow students to demonstrate their skills in real-world environments with industry support. The market for co-op employment is competitive, and students are expected to participate actively in their job searches. Students, with support, will be expected to identify and secure a co-op work term experience. Co-op work terms are subject to student eligibility, availability, and program review. If unable to secure or participate in a co-op work term, students will complete an alternative experiential learning opportunity.

Courses

LOGS2010 Business Analysis

This course studies the relationship between business concepts and computer applications using Microsoft Office spreadsheet and database applications (Excel focus). Students will design and develop professional documents, presentations and spreadsheets for business decision-making. Students will gain analysis experience using Excel tools and data presentation methods.

HRPG3004 Management Accounting- Business Analytics

This course introduces students to the fundamentals of accounting, as well as management accounting concepts and practices. There is a focus on how management uses accounting information for decision making, planning, controlling, and performance measurement. Topics include cost allocation, cost-volume-profit analysis, relevant costs, and budgeting. Business analytics with a focus on Excel techniques such as pivot, sorting, formatting, and filtering data.

LOGS1018 Operations Lean Management

This course is designed to acquaint students with the concepts and functions of operations management. Topics covered will include the nature of operating systems, forecasting, capacity management, quality, inventory management, job and process design, and scheduling. Primary activities will be explored through areas that include lean concepts, sales and operations planning, and manufacturing execution including MPS, MRP and ERP systems.

BUSI3024 Principles of Buying

This course provides a critical view into the purchasing elements in the world of Supply Chain Management. Topical focus will relate to supply organizations, quality, supplier relations, sourcing, price and cost management and the role of transportation. The scope of this course will include the private and public business sectors.

GBMG1005 Project Management

Through this course students acquire foundational project management knowledge in the areas of project planning, defining scope and priorities, work breakdown structure, creating scheduling estimates for timing and project costs, developing project networks, communicating project information, identifying compliance and risk issues, assigning resources, identifying potential efficiencies, and managing progress. This course engages students with a hands-on approach using a variety of project management tools.

BUSI3005 Supply Chain and Logistic Management (EDI)

This course encompasses activities and techniques utilized in supply chain and logistics management including customer service, distribution planning, transportation planning, transportation forecasting, logistics documentation, purchasing and third party supply chain management.

LOGS3000 Tariff Classification

This course is intended to familiarize the student with the general rules of classification, which will allow the learner to correctly classify commodities being imported/exported.

LOGS1009 CRM and Business Strategy

This course is intended to familiarize students with the world of marketing from a consulting perspective. This course will focus on understanding the role of marketing, the role of the consultant, and the management of business and marketing information.

LOGS1010 Customs Compliance

This course is intended to introduce students to the rules of customs compliance.

PROJ1012 Innovation & Sustainability

The Innovation and Sustainability course is broken into two distinct parts. Firstly, students will focus on the key concepts, approaches, and tools within innovation. Specific focus will be on developing an innovative mindset and using that approach to successfully develop current ideas for organizations in any industry. Students will explore the importance of an innovation strategy, key terminology and concepts, selection criteria, and how to enhance creativity within complex organizations. The second part of this course will examine how global organizations are integrating the three pillars of sustainability (economic, social, and environmental) throughout the functional areas (e.g., human resources, marketing, operations, accounting, finance) of business to remain competitive in the long term. Students will explore the historical context, the business case, internationally recognized frameworks and respective principles, the role and significance of multiple stakeholders, sustainability assurance, greenhouse gas emissions and climate change.

LOGS1011 LEAN Operations

This course is intended to familiarize students with the principles of LEAN operations.

LOGS1017 Leadership and Managing Teams

Effective leadership and team management skills are essential skills for success. This course is designed to offer an exploration of the principles, strategies, and practices of leadership within the context of team dynamics and emotional intelligence. Participants will explore leadership from a variety of aspects, including communication, motivation, initiative, relationship building, conflict resolution, and performance management, with a focus on their application in leading and managing teams effectively.

LOGS1019 MIS & ERP Fundamentals

Technology has changed the way we gather, disseminate, and interpret data in business. Hence, management demands have increased the need for automated human resources and supply chain management systems. This course will allow participants to gain an understanding of the requirements of an effective information system, its design, and effective business decision-making.

LOGS1005 Supply Chain OH&S

This course explores the complex world of Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) in the supply chain with a focus on OH&S in the manufacturing, warehouse and ground transportation environments. Hazards, agents and training strategies will be explored, culminating in a focus on risk management – identification and planning in the supply chain – materials handling and transportation environments.

LOGS2015 Co-op & Career Search Prep

This course focuses on developing strategies, attributes and employability skills to assist the learner with preparation for future placement and employment within the business field. Content includes essential communication in support of the job search, networking skills, exploration of career options and the application process, professional communication, and appropriate use of LinkedIn. This course will get students on the road to placement and career readiness.

LOGS2005 SAP- Financial & Man. Account

Students will get a deep understanding of financial accounting and management accounting business processes in SAP.

LOGS2001 SAP- Inventory Management

Inventory management function covers multiple business processes related to storage and movement of goods, such as goods receipt, inspection, storage, movement, physical inventory, delivery, etc. This course will give students a hands-on approach to learning how to perform these transactions using SAP ERP software.

LOGS2002 SAP- Order Fulfillment

Order fulfillment or sales and distribution function covers process chains from customer order to cash receipt (OTC) end-to-end processes. It includes business transactions such as creating customer enquiry, sales orders, delivery, creating invoices, follow-up receivables, receiving customer payments, etc. This course will give students a hands-on approach to learning how to perform these transactions using SAP ERP software.

LOGS2003 SAP- SCM Planning

Supply chain or production planning function covers process chains from forecast to delivery (FTD) end-to-end processes. It includes business transactions such as materials requirements planning, demand management, production planning, detailed scheduling, etc. This course will give students a hands-on approach to learning how to perform these transactions using SAP ERP software.

LOGS2000 SAP-Procurement

Procurement function covers process chain from requisition to pay. It includes the creation of material requirements, vendor selection, creating purchase orders, order follow up, goods receipt, inspection, and vendor bill processing and payment. This course will give students a hands-on approach to learning how to perform these processes with SAP ERP software.

LOGS2004 SCM- Master Data & Org Struct

Supply chain management (SCM) master data is the foundation for supply chain management transaction data such as purchase orders, purchase requisitions, etc. In this applied course, students will learn about SCM master data in SAP as well as associated organization structure and purchase order type.

LOGS2007 SAP Certification Preparation

The objective of this course is to prepare students to become SAP certified professionals. This course will help students gain insight into the SAP certification topics and also review the overall SAP concepts learned in this program. This course provides guidance to complete the remaining requirements towards attaining the Certified Supply Chain Management Professional (SCMP) designation from the professional body of the Supply Chain Canada, Ontario Institute. Admission requirements

Required academic preparation 

A diploma or degree from a recognized college or university or equivalent. 

All teaching within Loyalist is conducted in English. In order to be successful in a program, skills such as communication, listening comprehension, and reading and writing must be at a level sufficient to meet the demands of post-secondary studies. All applicants to Loyalist whose first language is not English, or whose previous education was in another language, will be expected to provide an English proficiency assessment for admissions approval. Co-op work term fee

The fees listed above do not include the co-op work term fee ($900). Students are expected to participate actively in securing a co-op work term. If ineligible or unable to secure a co-op work term, students are required to complete an alternative experiential learning opportunity in their final semester and will be assessed a different fee ($2,800). These fees are not added to fourth semester tuition fees; rather, they replace regular semester tuition fees.

CSCMP Designation Program

As a graduate of Loyalist’s full-time Supply Chain Management – Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) post-graduate program, you may be eligible for advanced standing into the Certified Supply Chain Management Professional (CSCMP) Designation Program. Graduates with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 are granted exemption from four modules and two interactive workshops in accordance with the Supply Chain Management Association Ontario (SCMAO) and Loyalist’s Partnership Agreement.
